‘Tassled Out’ With C/Meo Collective: Part I

Outfit Details: C/MEO Collective Firestone Skirt via Shopbop (here), Sam Edelman shoes (old), YSL Clutch (here), Tassel necklace (purchased at Saks Off Fifth), Neiman Marcus Cashmere boyfriend sweater (similar here), Chanel sunglasses

Happy Tuesday my lovely followers! Today’s look features one of the tassled skirts I purchased from C/MEO Collective via Shopbop. C/MEO Collective is an Australian designer that has risen to fame as it has caught the attention of celebrities like Jennifer Lopez, Vanessa Hudgens, and Suki Waterhouse.  Also representing the brand’s innovative and unique designs are popular fashion bloggers like Christina Bazan of Kayture. I always enjoy supporting up and coming brands and this brand is no exception.

One particular thing that seems to capture my interest about an item of clothing is a spectacular detail. A tassled fringe. A beaded collar. An embellished coat. Details are what make a piece so special. This skirt makes a statement when you walk as the tassels sway with the body. This might be something best saved for a night out on the town. Go ahead and double up with the pink tassled top version of this skirt. I chose to pair mine with my guy’s cashmere boyfriend sweater. And check out C/MEO Collectives’s website for new arrivals. (here)

Stay tuned for more NYFW week show reviews and another tassled skirt !!

Have  a wonderful day!

NYFW: Meeting Manolo Blahnik

My outfit: Josie Natori pink pencil pants (via Saks Fifth Avenue), Manolo Blahnik Hangisi 105 satin pumps (Via Saks Fifth Avenue (here), Erin Fetherston twiggy cape (sold out, dress version here), Chanel bag, Chanel brooch, Chanel earrings

Happy Friday my wonderful readers!! So, the night before I was to attend the Erin Fetherston and Tadashi Shoji shows, I got a social media alert on Facebook about Manolo Blahnik. As one of my favorite shoe designers of all time, I immediately clicked on the event invite. It happened to be the same day as the NYFW week shows and was being held at Saks Fifth Avenue in NYC. An opportunity to meet the shoe legend and designer of Carrie’ Bradshaw’s satin ‘Hangisi’ shoes. You know, the blue satin embellished beauties that Mr. Big used to propose to Carrie instead of an engagement ring?? (Pictured above). I  absolutely had to find a way to fit it in my schedule. Luckily, the event was held in the early evening, so my friend, Melinda and I jumped on the subway and headed uptown after the shows. We ended up barely making the event as the usher closed the rope minutes after we arrived. I felt like A VIP waiting on the red carpet. As we stood in line, Saks’ store associates handed us champagne, chocolate, and macarons. Meanwhile, we got to admire the stunning shoe candy in the Manolo Blahnik and Chrisitian Louboutin shoe salon. Stars were in my eyes as I eagerly anticipated meeting Manolo and getting the opportunity to have my pink satin ‘hangisi’ shoes and ‘Manolo Blahnik: Fleeting Gestures and Obsessions’ collector book signed.

Finally, the moment arrived. Manolo was wearing a fresh lavender-hued suit and a lovely bow tie. Of course, his red suede loafers were a statement on their own and I wouldn’t expect anything less! This man certainly has great taste in fashion. He even complimented me on my lace cape that I was wearing. He was so sweet and patient through the whole signing process and was happy to oblige to all my picture taking requests. I asked if he has any advice to those pursuing a career in fashion and he said, “You know, it isn’t easy. It’s very hard to be original, especially when there are so many copycats out there. But, I say just be yourself. Don’t follow the crowd.” These words meant alot to me as I was stumbling in the proverbial dark trying to find a way to succeed in blogging without having to emulate every single trend. His words encouraged me when I felt like I wanted to give up. I am so grateful to have met this talented man! I will certainly covet the items he signed for me, the pink shoes and his book, for the rest of my life.

A special shout-out to my fabulous friends, Melinda and Jeanine. These ladies were so patient with me as we waited in line and girls, I really appreciate your support!! It wouldn’t have been the same without you there sharing in the excitement!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

NYFW Fashion Week: Art Loves Fashion featuring Amato Haute Couture

The Outfit (s) of the Day

Hi my lovely readers!!! I am back!!! Took a few weeks off to rest and recover from surgery and the very grueling IVF process. This was one of the outfits I wore to the Art Heart’s Fashion Runway Show at the Highline Hotel in New York on September 15 . I chose to wear a navy Rebecca Taylor dress with cut out at the bodice and beautiful lace trimming the A-line skirt. I paired it with my pink Chloe Drew bag, Michael Kors heels, and a pink leather jacket (not shown). Of course, the stand out piece were definitely my J.Crew earrings – I got so many compliments from people on the streets of NYC that evening!  Thanks to my gorgeous fashionista sister, Melinda, for joining me for the shows!!!

One great thing about attending smaller runway shows is you get the opportunity to mingle with fashion industry guests, designers, and models alike. I definitely had to take a picture of my favorite Amato Couture Collection piece, an amazing statement necklace worn by America’s Next Top Model, Delanie Dischert. She was so nice! I was in awe by the fact that the necklace was constructed by simple beads and safety pins. Amato Haute Couture-put me on the list for purchasing this whole outfit when available! I also got to meet a delightful up and coming vegan couture designer named Ishara. I am always supportive of new designers and instantly clicked with Ishara since she was originally from Australia. If you don’t know this about me, I spent a good part of my childhood living in Sydney, Australia and still keep in touch with a number of friends from that area. I hope to be able to see her runway show next year during fashion week which will feature gowns and couture dresses made almost entirely from vegetables and fruits.

There were other runway shows featured that night, but the collection that stood out to me was the Amato Haute Couture SS16 collection. Although brooding and darker in nature, I loved the steampunk vibe mixed with feminine details like bows, ruffles, and of course, the embellished necklines and details. Two of the looks particularly caught my eye, a two piece that Delanie wore with the exquisite statement necklace and the sheer embellished dress with bow accent in the first picture. Please enjoy the video of the whole show above. What do you think of the eollection?

Thanks so much for dropping by and have a wonderful day!

Rustic Glamour

Dress: Little Mistress via Asos (no longer available), Banana Republic sandals, YSL handbag, Chanel earrings, Chanel sunglasses

Happy Monday my dear readers! I apologize for being light on the posts; but NYFW was a whirlwind and then I had to have unexpected surgery this past week. I can’t wait to share my special experiences and outfits from the infamous New York Fashion Week. So, please keep checking back for new updates. This was a photoshoot that I put together about a month ago. I found this dress on ASOS and thought it was he perfect mix of glamour and bohemian chic. The dress was composed of lovely silk and featured a dazzling sparkling belt in the center. I think this has to be one of my favorite color combinations that I’ve ever worn on the blog. And you certainly can wear this style to transition into the fall – simply add a tan or black leather jacket and booties.

I hope you have a wonderful day!

MARGE Clothing x Ginny’s Closet: Part II

MARGE Clothing x Ginny’s Closet (Cont.)

Hello lovely readers! Welcome to the second segment of the MARGE Clothing x Ginny’s Closet collaboration. As you might have read in my post on September 2, MARGE Clothing is a luxury clothing line for tall women. Kaersten Cooper, the CEO and designer of the brand,  was inspired by her grandmother, a fashion illustrator and designer, to create a line of sophisticated clothing that takes into account 50 unique measurements for the tall woman. Kaersten and I bonded almost immediately on the phone over the fact that both of our grandmothers had a huge influence in igniting our passion for fashion and design. The concept behind MARGE Clothing , “Life up here’,  encourages women to be confident in how they look and express themselves. To read more about the story behind MARGE Clothing, click here.

Review: Anja Dress – $795

It’s no surprise that I find any excuse to get glammed up. I am in love with the glamorous vintage looks of the 1920s Great Gatsby-era. I was taken aback in awe when I tried on the Anja dress – the material epitomizes luxury with its’ intricate stitching and inner silk lining. Tall girls, this dress fits like a dream! Kaersten and MARGE Clothing pay attention to details; from the peplum ruffle at the bottom to a small silk button at the top of the zipper. I knew I wanted to emulate a styled outfit I saw on the runway last time I attended NYFW. So, I added a soft faux fur stole and cinched the waist with a Burberry belt. Then, all I needed was some nude pumps, sparkly earrings, and my Jimmy Choo pumps. I felt like a movie star! And I got stopped so many times by people on the street complimenting me about the beauty of the dress. Tall ladies – this dress is not only luxurious, but also has sleeves that elegantly flow several inches past my wrist line, a conservative peplum hem, and enough stretch for comfortable body movement. Please be sure to check out the Anja dress and MARGE Clothing’s website!

Review: Amanda Pants – $425

It is so difficult for me to find the perfect-fitting black pant. I always have to consider my height when shopping and I rarely find a long enough inseam in-store. And then, when I want a cropped or ankle pant, the length always seems to fall at an awkward place mid-calf. I was ecstatic when I tried on these beautiful and luxurious ankle length pants from MARGE Clothing. The design and flow of the pant are flawless. The material moves and stretches with my curves and is extremely comfortable. The Amanda pant is a must-have staple for any woman’s closet. Inspired by a street style look that I saw on my recent trip to Paris, I started with striped shirt as a base and added a blush-colored vest to add polish.  Add pink pumps and a small statement bag and you are ready for the office or out to an upscale lunch with friends.

Thank you again to Kaersten Cooper and the MARGE Clothing team for partnering on this post. MARGE Clothing has been a joy to work with and I am incredibly impressed by the design, high-quality material, and the efforts placed on ensuring all garments are the perfect length for the tall woman.

STAY TUNED for another MARGE Clothing look that I will be wearing to a runway show for New York Fashion Week. I hope you have a wonderful day!

Pin up Photoshoot with Coca Cola

I hope everyone is having an amazing Labor Day weekend! Sometimes I get inspired by old vintage photographs on Pinterest. This photoshoot was based on an old Coca Cola ad from the 1950s that I tried to re-create with a modern vibe. As you know, the summer ‘coke’ campaign has promoted personalized names on bottles and inspirational words, like ‘hero’ or ‘superstar.’ I was lucky to find my name and some colorful red and white straws from Home Goods to complete the look. And of course, when I saw this “@'” sign, I immediately had the creative vision to spell out ‘follow Ginny’s Closet’ utilizing the contrast of the bright blue pool for contrast. It fit the vintage , pin up vibe perfectly. Do you get inspired by Pinterest? It is now my go-to platform for all things creative.

Special thanks to my awesome lifeguard, Jeremy Siegel, for helping bring this vision to life.

Have a great day!

MARGE Clothing: Fall/Winter Collection 2015

MARGE Clothing is a luxury women’s clothing line that caters to the unique measurements of tall women. The brainchild of Kaersten Cooper, CEO and designer, MARGE Clothing seeks to provide a confidence-enhancing fit that incorporates luxury materials and offers timeless silhouettes for the taller lady (over 5’9″). As a customer, you don’t have to worry about whether a garment will fit you or not. The company has taken into account 50 different types of measurements that fit the longer limbs. There are companies who have started to offer longer inseams for women’s pants. However, what about the sleeve length? What about the torso? What about the need for a wider fit for the armholes of jackets? MARGE Clothing has conducted extensive research with consumers and tall clients alike to determine what the fit needs are and how to overcome fit challenges. As a tall woman, I rejoice and exclaim, ‘finally!’ Now I can attend business meetings and social events without having to tug the hem of my skirt down or fiddle uncomfortably with a short top that barely falls past my hipline.  I am thrilled to be collaborating with this innovative company to share some of the looks from MARGE Clothing’s Fall/Winter 2015 launch collection. MARGE Clothing is single-handedly redefining what it means to be ‘fit for tall.’ Now, tall women can enjoy ‘life up here’ wrapped in chic and luxurious materials that perfectly fit every curve and length alike. FEATURED ITEM:  Nina Crepe Blouse – $450

Review:  Being 5’11”, It can be difficult for me to find tunics that actually look like tunics. I refer to the fact that regular tunics barely skim past my low hip and provide zero rear coverage. The material of the Nina crepe blouse is soft and silky. It flows over the body and provides an effortless modern silhouette. I was amazed not only in regard to the torso length, but also to the fact that the material ran gracefully past my wrist line. There are many ways that you can style this blouse; add a pencil skirt, slim leggings ,or even pair with the Naja skirt (review below). I chose to cinch the waist with a statement belt and add wide leg wool pant. And of course, I always enjoy a pop of color-so I wanted to add flirty pink accents. Fit recommendation for the ‘Nina’: I chose to size down due to the forgiving shape. How will you style your Nina?

FEATURED ITEM: Naja Crepe Pleated Skirt – $525

Review:  Every woman needs a simple, flowy A-line skirt in her closet. This is a staple item that will take you from work to cocktail hour effortlessly. The length is perfect and falls a few inches below my knee. The material, just like with the Nina blouse, is high quality and exquisite.  I paired with a Helmut Lang top and rich wine-colored accessories. The hat and sparkly necklace added a touch of glamour. How will you style your Naja skirt?

A huge thank you to the wonderful Kaersten Cooper and the Esse PR team for partnering on this post! I hope that you take a chance to peruse MARGE Clothing’s website (here) and shop the new Fall/Winter collection. More pieces will be added soon; so get excited! MARGE Clothing and I are looking forward to your insights and feedback. Please don’t be shy and leave a comment!

I hope you have a wonderful day! Stay tuned for Part II of the MARGE Clothing x Ginny’s Closet collaboration coming on 9/8.

Ocean City, NJ

Outfit details: White Sand maxi skirt (here), White Sand crochet top (no longer available, similar here), Lilly Pulitzer sandals,  Saint Laurent handbag (similar here), Chanel sunglasses, Mirina Collections ‘Vivian’ Statement necklace (here), Mirina Collections ‘Emma’ earrings (here), David Yurman bracelet

Happy Monday everyone! I am trying to savor every last inch of summer – so you will be seeing several all-white, airy looks mixed with fall transitional posts over the next two weeks.  We were invited last weekend by Rich’s college friends to stay with them at their parents’ shore house in Ocean City. It is a beautiful beach town filled with colorful florals, stark picket fences, and nautical decorations – ideal for a photoshoot.  The lace at the bottom is remniscent of a wedding dress train- in fact, my friend mentioned it looked like an beach wedding dress as I descended down the stairs at our friends’ shore house. It is rare that I find skirts that are long enough to graze past my ankles. So, tall ladies – if you are looking for an elegant beach look, check out the British Brand, White Sand. They also have palazzo pants and long bohemian, Juliet-esque dresses.

I hope everyone has a wonderful day! Thank you for all of your support and stay tuned this week for a special two-part collaborative post.

Pink Birthday

Outfit details: Halston Heritage sequined kaftan dress (here on sale), Christian Louboutin Pigalle heels (similar here), Chanel bag via PorteroKate Spade sunglasses via Nordstrom, J.Crew earrings, Hermes Clic Clac bracelet, David Yurman pearl bracelet

When I envision my ideal birthday outfit, it would be channeling true Elle Woods style – anything pink with sequin embellishment. My mom and I found this dress at Neiman Marcus and I was immediately drawn to the layers of pink sequins sewn onto dainty pink chiffon. It was a little short for me, but it can easily be worn as a tunic with white skinny jeans (for the tall girls). Richard took me on a surprise date to NYC for my birthday. We went to an amazing restaurant called in lower Manhatten called ‘Beauty and Essex’ and then he took me to see “Book of Mormon” on broadway. I have been wanting to see the show for years now and was ecstatic when Rich found tickets. It definitely lives up to the high comical standards set by reviewers; it was hilarious, witty, and very entertaining. I highly recommend you go see the play – you won’t be disappointed!

Have a wonderful day!

Pink Cherry Blossoms

Outfit details:  Carmen Marc Volvo dress via Neiman Marcus (here), Saint Laurent bag (here), Scala Hat, Kate Spade sunglasses vi Nordstrom, pearl earrings (purchased at a small boutique in SC), Banana Republic sandals

Happy Tuesday my friends! Today is a special day as it is my twin niece and nephew’s 4th birthday. They were born on a stormy and wet August 25th in 2011. There was a hurricane and my sister’s house had flooded. There was some caous and rushing around at the hospital trying to determine if the babies would be born via C-section. Suddenly, the air got quiet. Time seemed to stop. The hurricane opened up temporarily for a ray of sunshine to peak through the clouds. We hear two tiny cries. The babies are born. Lilly and Kevin were born a few minutes apart and both weighed about 5 pounds. I held these little babies in my arms and a huge smile spans across my face. I am an Auntie! These twinkles have filled our life with joy, laughter, and happiness. I am sad that we don’t live closer, but they are always in my heart. Happy Birthday my loves!

Back to the post, there is a lovely and elegant restaurant in Morristown called ‘The Grand Cafe.” It has a beautiful front entrance laced with blooming flowers and intricate iron architecture. During the summer, Rich and I like to go and have a nice dinner on the open terrace. Although somewhat expensive, the food is delicious and the customer service is top notch. This dress is the perfect outfit to wear for a daytime brunch or a summer dinner.

I hope you have a great day!
